Joyful Mom Monday - Inspiring Scripture Verses and Quotes

Counting God's Little Blessings
I LOVE to read, and as I have grown in my walk with the Lord, I have found that my greatest "resource book" for finding hope and joy in the middle of a long, seemingly unsuccessful day is God's Word.  There are many inspiring people and books that we can and should learn from, but a person can only be truly joyful when they have found a true relationship with the One and only TRUE Joy-giver - Jesus Christ!  My heart is so enormously grateful for the joy that God's Word can bring to my sometimes mundane mommy days.  Here are a few verses that I always turn to in order to remind myself that I am precious in God's eyes, that He has a plan for me and my family, and that what I do and how I do it matters very much - even if to no one else but God.

Joshua 1:9 ~ Have not I commanded thee?  Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Deuteronomy 33:27a ~ The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms...

Psalm 18:29 ~ For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall. (This one has always made me smile because I sometimes think of my family as the troop!  It always reminds me that I can do this mommying thing with God's help even though I may feel worn-out at times!)

Psalm 37:4 ~ Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Nehemiah 8:10b ~ ...for the joy of the Lord is your strength.

Zephaniah 3:17 ~ The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy, he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.  (Doesn't that just make you ready to face anything!?!)

Matthew 6:33-34 ~ But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.  Take no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Galatians 2:20 ~ I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live: yet no I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Galatians 6:9 ~  And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

The entire book of Philippians!!!
Philippians 2:20-21 ~ According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life or by death.  For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Philippians 2:27a ~ Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ.

Philippians 2:7-14 (my favorite parts of those verses I have written out here) ~ ....yea, doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord...That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection...I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

I know this is becoming a rather long post but doesn't reading these make you ready to conquer the week with joy and godliness?  I am READY, and I hope you are too!!!

I also have some favorite quotes from others that I turn to regularly:

Of course, we must have a couple from Sally Clarkson:  :)

In  the absence of Biblical conviction, Moms will go the way of the culture.
In the absence of a loving home, children will go the way of the culture.

Abraham Lincoln:
All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel Mother.

George Washington:
My mother was the most beautiful woman I ever saw. All I am I owe to my mother. I attribute all my success in life to the moral, intellectual and physical education I received from her.

Elizabeth Stone: Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.

D.L. Moody:
The impression that a praying mother leaves upon her children is life-long. Perhaps when you are dead and gone your prayer will be answered.

Hamilton Wright Mabie:
The mother loves her child most divinely, not when she surrounds him with comfort and anticipates his wants, but when she resolutely holds him to the highest standards and is content with nothing less than his best.

There are so many more wonderful and inspiring Bible verses and quotes to share!  I would love to hear your favorites!  Link up with us today to share.  Remember, your topic can be anything that has helped you become a more joyful mom.  For today, mine has been the above!   I pray you all have a wonderful, joy-filled week full of blessings and opportunities to share God's love and joy!

P.S.  I wrote this post on Saturday and was so thankful for God's timing.  I ended up being awake most of the night with the newbie who seems to have a small touch of a stomach bug.  As I proofed my post this morning, I was thanking God for the encouragement! :)  Isn't He good?  I love counting God's little blessings!  Happy Monday!

  1. I think the "run through a troop" verse is so great for moms! After all, isn't this how we feel at the end of most days? Or maybe it's more "run over" by a troop! LOL :)
